Your teachers

A professional, dynamic approach to teaching

All the teachers at the Lake School are qualified in teaching English as a foreign language and experienced at working with students from all over the world.

Some of our teachers are also teacher trainers on Lake School Professional Development Courses, authors of English language teaching materials for Oxford University Press or examiners for the Cambridge exams.

Different teachers have different styles of teaching, the Lake School 'style of teaching' is dynamic and communicative. Our teachers motivate their students to take learning seriously and work hard, so you make progress and achieve your goals. You will also have a lot of fun in class!

Personal attention

Personal attention and learning support from helpful, experienced teachers will make sure that your English really improves so that you become a more confident and natural language user.

Your teachers will make sure you understand the intended learning outcomes for each lesson; they plan their lessons carefully to suit the needs, interests, learning styles and cultural background of their students and provide the right balance of skills, vocabulary and grammar.

Course content

Interactive and focused classroom activities will help you to practise new language in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Practical, creative teaching techniques will encourage you to do your best and get what you need from your lessons. You will often work in pairs or small groups so you can speak as much English as possible.

As well as using all the most up-to-date course books available, teachers also create their own materials and integrate other resources, such as video and the internet into their teaching.

Angus Savory, a former Lake School former teacher has developed an online e-Learning Centre, to which all Lake School students receive 1 year's free subscription.
