I loved being here. Teachers were perfect, I feel now that my English has really improved. Every lesson was really interesting for me because teachers made them enjoyable.

Social activities

Cultural, social and sporting activities included in your Lake School programme

Every Tuesday afternoon, there is a cultural activity such as a talk from a guest speaker or a guided visit. Visits include guided tours of Oxford, museums and local places of interest. We also organise regular sports activities such as football, Zumba, ice-skating and punting on the River Thames.

Every week, there is a least one social evening, such as going to the pub, evensong at an Oxford University college, a quiz or party at school.

These activities are included in your course fees. (When the social activity is not held at the Lake School, you will have to pay for your drinks.) Everyone is invited to join in and take part!

Here you can check upcoming social activities before you arrive.

In your Welcome Pack, we will also give you a programme of social activities and weekend excursions on your first day. You can sign up for the activities and book the tours with our social organiser in school.

If there is something special you want to do, an interest that you'd like to continue or a sport you want to play, just ask and we can help you to find out information.

Lake School activities are supervised on a 1:15-25 basis, dependent the age and profile of the students participating, on the type of excursion and any associated risk.

Lake School courses are for adults.Parents of students aged 16 or 17 should note that students are accompanied during these weekly social and cultural activities.

During scheduled activities, under 18s are supervised on a 1:15-20 basis. For students aged 16 and 17, the Lake School follows this procedure.

Outside of classes, this scheduled activity programme and optional weekend excursions, students' free time is otherwise unsupervised. The School offers suggestions to students aged 16 and 17 for appropriate free time activities in and around Oxford.
