Before You Arrive

A director of the school is available by phone, fax or email to answer any questions you may have about your course and your accommodation.

Confirmation of registration

We will confirm your place on a course as soon as we receive your registration and deposit. Participants on Teacher Refresher courses will also receive pre-course questionnaires.

Confirmation of accommodation

Before you leave home, you will receive all your accommodation details. If you have chosen homestay accommodation, you will receive:

  • the address and contact details
  • a profile of your homestay
  • a map showing where they live
  • information about your stay in Britain at an ENGLISH UK member school, available in 10 languages

If you have chosen guest house or hotel accommodation, you will receive:

  • the address and contact details
  • a map showing where the guest house/hotel is situated.

Getting to Oxford

If you are flying to Britain, you will also receive a timetable of the direct bus service from Heathrow and Gatwick. If you are arriving at another airport, port or train station, we will help you arrange your journey to Oxford.

We can provide a taxi to meet you at the airport, if you wish.

Insurance

The school can arrange health and personal belongings insurance for you.

Things to bring with you

  • An umbrella, sunglasses, t-shirts and jumpers. The weather is changeable!
  • A personal stereo, if you want to do extra listening practice at home.
  • Postcards and a map of your country and photos of your family to show your new friends from different countries.
  • Any medicine that you regularly take.
  • A laptop computer, if you have one. We have WiFi internet access, or you can use our broadband internet connection.
