My stay at the Lake School was amazing. The lessons were all great. I learned a lot and we had fun as well, the perfect combination. They matched exactly my level and helped me improve my English.

Lake School of English: Home > Accommodation > Self-catering

Self-catering

Some of our students prefer to be in their own independent accommodation and to cook, wash and clean for themselves. However, we only recommend this for students who are aged 18+.

The school doesn't arrange self-catering accommodation but you can contact us for advice.

Sharing a flat or a house

For long-stay students, flatshare or houseshare is a possible option. However, it is best for students to start by living with a Lake School homestay and settle into Oxford first, then to look for suitable accommodation in the city. The school doesn't arrange flat-shares or house-shares, but we can offer help and advice on this when you arrive at Lake School.

Serviced studios/flats/houses

If you want to rent private self-catering accommodation, here are some places to look:

Short Let Space

Oxford City Information

Righton Property

To rent a 1 or 2 bedroom serviced studio/apartment/house, the cost is approximately 400 - 700 GBP per week, on a short let basis. Prices usually include a weekly linen & towel change, heating, lighting, water, electricity, council taxes, television licence & welcome pack.

If you choose self-catering accommodation you may not have so much opportunity to practise your English as you may not be eating and socialising with native English speakers. You should also note that you will be responsible for your rental agreement and any utility bills or local taxes.

For mature students on short courses, we still recommend living in homestay accommodation as it is a great way to talk and exchange cultures. Guests have their own key and independence, all meals are provided (except lunch on school days), and some homes have bedrooms with private bathrooms.
